New Sony Ericsson Satio Firmware R1CA037 Released

Sony Ericsson have recently made a new firmware update available for the Satio. You can view my findings and some screenshots below.

The update is 106MB in size. Once downloaded, it only takes approximately 3 minutes to apply the update to the phone.

The Satio features UDP: your data will NOT be destroyed, but it's a good idea to backup, just in case.
Upon boot, there's about 150MB of free RAM, which is pretty much the same as the previous firmware.

HelloOx2 and ROMPatcher are both working.

Changes I've noticed:
-The phone is faster through menus. Opening the menu is now almost instant.

-The screen now wakes up instantly after sliding the unlock key, eliminating the delay that used to be present in the previous firmware.

-After taking a picture, a message saying 'Working. Please wait' is now displayed while the phone saves the image. This has no impact on the speed of the Satio's camera.

-The auto-brightness function has been removed from the 'display' sub-menu.

-It seems like music playback is now a little bit louder through earphones. This might just be because I'm indoors though. Hopefully someone else can confirm.

-When playing videos in portrait mode, a blue background is now displayed instead of black (like in the rest of the UI). I suspect this might be a bug.

-Information displayed behind notifications (such as '1 new message')is now darkened in the same way as Nokia's S60v5 phones.

That's all so far. Feel free to comment if you've found any other changes.

I also noticed that the HELP topics in my phone are gone after the firmware update!

Another thing I noticed (not sure though) is that when i play videos via the Media, there is now a blue background color (assuming the video is not full screen) unlike before where it was only black.

Which help topics are gone? The 'Help' application is still present in the phone.

I can confirm that there's now a blue background when playing videos.

    Thanks for the comment!

Very interesting post. Sony Ericsson Satio is the best mobile in its segment and much better in comparison to its rivals. Planning to buy it soon.
