A few days ago, I noticed a mouse cursor in one of Nokia's N8 overview videos. It was later confirmed to me that the N8 does support Bluetooth mice. Michael Hell of FoneArena has done one better, having uploaded a 5-minute long video demonstrating this awesome feature.
Pairing with a Bluetooth mouse automatically places a cursor on the N8's screen. It's great that all these new features provide an automatic response in Symbian^3 (another example being the automatic opening of the File Manager when plugging in external drives via USB OTG). Michael shows how navigating the UI works; it's basically like using a desktop computer.
A scroll wheel can also be used in lists, which is very welcome. The cursor looked slightly jerky though, but maybe there'll be an option to adjust cursor speed.
August can't come soon enough.
Hello!
Thanks a lot for picking my Video, its much appreciated! the sloppyness is explained rather easy: first, the surface of the table was rather sleak, so the BT mouse had troubles at times. second, the N8 runs on proto software, things will improve a lot, no worries :)
its still fantastic to watch this ..
thanks again,
Michael
Hi Michael,
Thanks for mentioning that. I'm sure the production N8s will be silky-smooth.
Can't wait to try this out myself!
Thanks
